Gas station stop leads to $50K Pick 5 jackpot for Baltimore retiree

BALTIMORE, MD — A retired bank employee from Baltimore turned a simple piece of advice into a life-changing lottery win after purchasing a $50,000 Pick 5 ticket.

While running errands with a family member, she stopped at Loch Raven BP in Towson for gas. Initially considering a Keno ticket, she was instead encouraged to try Pick 5 and play a specific set of numbers. She placed a $1 straight bet on those digits for the Feb. 3 evening drawing.

Later that night, she checked the Lottery’s website and was shocked to see her numbers matched. The realization left her overwhelmed as she double-checked her ticket, unable to believe the win was real.

The $50,000 prize will be used to pay bills. Loch Raven BP, where she purchased the winning ticket, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
