Gastonia Man Arrested Following Shooting Incident

GASTONIA, NC – Arkevious Hemphill, a 26-year-old Gastonia resident, was shot in Lineberger Park at around 9:15 p.m. on Monday. After a 911 call reporting the shooting, Gastonia Police arrived to find Hemphill, who had been shot in his lower body, being transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in a black Mustang.

Following his release from the hospital later that night, Hemphill was arrested by Gastonia Police for charges of failure to appear in court and injury to personal property.

He was booked into the Gaston County Detention Center at 2:09 a.m. on Tuesday.

Hemphill reportedly knew the person who shot him but did not cooperate with police regarding the shooting. No charges have been filed in connection with the shooting incident.
