Georgetown Man Arrested for Resisting and DUI

GEORGETOWN, DE – Miguel Santos-Chavez, a 23-year-old resident of Georgetown, was apprehended early on Monday morning by the Delaware State Police following a traffic stop in Millsboro. The incident occurred around 12:12 a.m., when a patrolling trooper noticed a speeding 2012 Volkswagen Jetta deviating from the road on eastbound Mount Joy Road near Oak Street.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the trooper identified the driver as Santos-Chavez, noting signs of impairment and the smell of alcohol. Santos-Chavez was taken into custody after a short foot chase when he tried to escape. He was charged with resisting arrest with force or violence, criminal impersonation, criminal mischief, driving under the influence of alcohol, and traffic offenses. Santos-Chavez, who had provided false identification during the stop, was later committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $3,100 cash bond.
