GEORGETOWN, DE – A 29-year-old man has died from injuries he sustained in a brutal single-vehicle crash that launched his SUV off a rural Delaware road and into the woods, according to investigators.
Marco Lobos-Simaj was driving eastbound on Hardscrabble Road just past 7 p.m. on August 19 when his Honda Pilot veered off the pavement near Tyndall Road, tore through a roadside ditch, slammed into a tree, flipped multiple times, and struck another tree before coming to a stop.
Lobos-Simaj was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. After fighting for his life for over a week, he died Wednesday from the injuries caused by the crash.
The circumstances leading to the violent off-road crash remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit. It is not yet known what caused Lobos-Simaj to lose control of the vehicle. No other passengers or vehicles were involved.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information relevant to the ongoing case to contact Sergeant A. Mitchell or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
