He wagered the combination of horses 9, 10, 11, and 12 during a visit to Gaithersburg on November 7.

When the horses crossed the line in one of the covered permutations, the payout was triggered.

The player learned of the win later that day after checking the results on the Maryland Lottery app.
He said the outcome surprised him, noting he had never previously played the combination in this exact format.
