Girl, 12, vanishes from Pittsburgh home; police launch urgent search

PITTSBURGH, PA — Detectives with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police’s Special Victims Unit are searching for a 12-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in the city’s Hill District neighborhood.

Last seen Saturday

Te’Aja Parrotte was last seen Saturday at her home on Junilla Street, according to police. She is described as standing 4 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 115 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair styled in two “puff balls,” held with a scarf.

Police said she was last seen wearing a black shirt and a gray backpack. She may also be wearing red Coca-Cola brand pants or blue jeans.

Frequent visitor to library

Investigators said Te’Aja is known to frequent the Hill District and enjoys spending time at the library.

The department released the alert across its social media platforms, urging anyone who has seen Te’Aja or has information on her whereabouts to contact the Special Victims Unit.

Police seek public’s help

The public is asked to call 412-323-7141 or dial 911 with any tips related to her disappearance. “She was last seen at her home on Junilla Street on April 12, 2025,” police stated in the bulletin.

Police are focusing search efforts in areas she is known to visit frequently.
