Glen Burnie man arrested for DUI and handgun violation

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A 32-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after being found driving under the influence and in possession of a handgun, according to local authorities.

At approximately 3:17 a.m. on September 29, 2024, an officer observed a 2008 white Cadillac run a red light at the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Ordnance Road. The driver, identified as Raymond Emile Nelson of Glen Burnie, stopped at a nearby gas station and entered the business. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed a black Walther 9mm semi-automatic handgun in plain view on the center console.

Nelson was found to be under the influence and was arrested for DUI. He also faces charges for carrying a firearm while under the influence.

The investigation is ongoing.
