GLEN BURNIE, MD — A work break turned into a life-changing moment for Roderick Doughty, a construction traffic manager from Glen Burnie, who won a $50,000 top prize with a FAST PLAY ticket.

The win occurred in the Brandywine area, where Doughty, a loyal lottery player, stopped by Baden Grocery during a break. Intending to buy scratch-offs, he accidentally purchased two $5 FAST PLAY Double Win tickets. The first ticket was a dud, but the second carried the $50,000 top prize.

Doughty, who remained calm and continued his workday in a state of shock, later shared the exciting news with his family. He plans to use the winnings for a down payment on a house and to share some with his extended family.

Baden Grocery, the retailer that sold the winning ticket, will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for the sale. The Double Win game, launched in July 2023, continues to offer prizes ranging from $5 to $50,000. Doughty is the fourth person to claim a top prize in this game.
