Governor Murphy’s State Bank Appears to be Out of Business Before it Opens

TRENTON-New Jersey’s top lawmaker, Senate President Steve Sweeney who has been at odds with Governor Phil Murphy for quite some time now has signaled that he will not give Governor Murphy’s State Bank legislation the time of day.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea. I think it’s dangerous,” Sweeney said. “I told the governor I would listen. But when that was first announced a while ago I said, if it were really good idea it would have more states following.”

Republicans said the Bank of Murphy is a huge mistake that could see it become nothing more than another political power structure.

“I think it would be a political bank,” said Republican Assemblyman John Bramnick. “Very pleased we have BIPARTISAN OPPOSITION to a bank run by New Jersey politicians.”
