Grandmother Arrested Following Schoolyard Assault

SALISBURY, MD – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to an assault at Prince Street Elementary School on Wednesday, June 14.

The Criminal Investigation Division assumed the investigation due to the nature of the assault.

Two juveniles had been involved in a fight earlier in the day, and Karen Louise Johnson, the grandmother of one of the juveniles, attempted to confront the other juvenile later in the day.

During an altercation with the second juvenile’s mother, Johnson struck a juvenile bystander with a bottle, causing a facial laceration.

Johnson was subsequently served with a criminal summons for two counts of second-degree assault. The investigation continues and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation is asking anyone with additional information to contact them at 410-548-4898.
