Grandson Scammer Calls Lacey Victim Who Had No Grandsons

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – A scammer that called a Lacey Township resident using the distressed grandson scam found out that the person he was calling had no grand son, and were played with by their victim.

According to police, on Friday, July 29, Officer Slota responded to police headquarters for a fraud report.  The victim reported they received a phone call from an individual who identified himself as their grandson.

“The victim stated even though they did not have a grandson, they played along for some time before ending the call,” officer Slota noted. “Since ending the call, the suspect has threatened the victim and called back multiple times.”

The victim was advised to contact the telephone service provider and have them block the number from any future calls.
