Green shirt, blue jeans: Teen girl missing in DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 16-year-old girl vanished Saturday night after she was last seen near the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue NE, prompting a critical missing alert as family members and city officials work to locate her.

Essence Morris was reported missing from the 5300 block of Jay Street NE around 8:00 p.m. on May 17. She has not been seen since leaving that area and was reportedly wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and black slippers at the time.

She is described as a Black female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with light brown hair and brown eyes. Officials have classified her as critically missing due to her age and the circumstances of her disappearance.

The case is being investigated by the Youth and Family Engagement Division, with support from the Real Time Crime Center, as efforts continue to locate the teen.

No further details have been released regarding the events leading up to her disappearance.
