Greenwich Bank Robber Has Turned Himself In

GREENWICH, CT– Joseph C Hefner, 42, has turned himself in to the Greenwich Police Department after learning he was being sought on act active warrant for a bank robbery he committed two weeks ago.

According to a police report, on the morning of May 11, Heffner allegedly entered M&T Bank in Cos Cob and demanded money, police said. No weapon was displayed, and he made off with less than $5,000.

Police said an arrest warrant was obtained.

On Thursday, Heffner appeared at Greenwich Police Headquarters after he learned of the active warrant and turned himself in.

“Chief James Heavey commended the officers and detectives who worked so diligently on this case to bring it to a successful conclusion. He also expressed his thanks to the press and social media outlets who were instrumental in getting information out to the public,” the department said.

Heffner is being held on $500,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 3rd.
