GREENWOOD, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested 63-year-old Ralph Cahall, III, of Greenwood, charging him with his 6th offense DUI, among other traffic-related offenses.

The arrest came on October 10, 2023, around 8:35 p.m., when a state trooper patrolling near Unity Lane and Deep Grass Lane noticed a black Chevrolet pickup with a malfunctioning headlight. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, Cahall sped off at a high rate of speed, leading to a brief chase. For the safety of other drivers, the trooper halted the pursuit.

The vehicle was later spotted by the same trooper on a dirt lane close to the 14000 block of Staytonville Road. On approaching the parked pickup, Cahall was seen fleeing into a nearby wooded area but was apprehended shortly after without any confrontation.

Post-arrest, visible signs of impairment were evident on Cahall. Following Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, it was determined that Cahall was operating under the influence.
