COLUMBUS, OH — The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced that Chance Donohoe, 27, has pleaded guilty to the killing of Shannon Hiott, 29, which occurred in August 2023.
Donohoe entered his plea on Wednesday, admitting to charges of aggravated murder and gross abuse of a corpse.
Assistant prosecutors Daniel Lenert and Melinda Killworth represented the state in the case. The crime took place on August 29, 2023, when Donohoe forced his way into Hiott’s residence and fatally stabbed her multiple times. Following the incident, Donohoe left the scene and called 911, confessing to the murder of Hiott, who was his ex-girlfriend.
Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kim Brown has scheduled Donohoe’s sentencing for Thursday, August 8, where he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
