Gun-toting suspects swipe SUV near Capitol Riverfront

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A midday armed carjacking in Southeast Washington has triggered an ongoing investigation as authorities search for suspects caught on surveillance cameras.

The incident occurred Friday, May 9, around 12:08 p.m. in the 1200 block of 4th Street SE. According to investigators, the suspects approached a driver who had just exited their vehicle. One of them brandished a handgun and demanded the car keys.

After the victim complied, the suspects fled in the stolen gray 2017 Mazda CX-5, which bears Maryland license plate 1EH7711.

Suspects sought following bold daytime theft in Navy Yard area

The suspects were captured by surveillance cameras in the area. Still images from the footage have been released as police seek assistance from the public in identifying them.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and no arrests have been made as of Saturday. Investigators are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to arrests and convictions in the case.
