UTICA, N.Y. — Two 15-year-old juveniles were found carrying realistic-looking BB guns after Utica police responded to reports of armed youths causing disturbances at the McDonald’s on Mohawk Street Monday night.
According to the Utica Police Department, officers were dispatched to the fast food location at approximately 9:15 p.m. following several recent incidents involving the same group of juveniles. Staff and customers reported escalating behavior, including verbal harassment and threats, with the latest incident raising concerns that some of the youths were armed.
Upon arrival, police said approximately 10 juveniles fled in various directions. One suspect was immediately apprehended, and another was detained a short distance away. Both were found to have BB guns designed to closely resemble Glock handguns.
The two teens were turned over to their guardians, who were again notified by police about the ongoing disruptive behavior. No injuries were reported during the incident, and no criminal charges have been announced at this time.
“This group has increased in violent behavior over the last several incidents,” Utica police said in a statement, referencing recent reports from the McDonald’s location.

The department stated it will maintain an elevated presence in the area to prevent further issues and ensure safety for both customers and employees of nearby businesses.
