BRONX, N.Y. — A deadly shooting unfolded behind a Bronx housing complex Sunday afternoon, leaving one man dead and another hospitalized, police said.
Authorities responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire at approximately 2 p.m. in the rear of 350 East 143rd Street, inside the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 40th Precinct and Housing PSA 7.
Upon arrival, officers found two male victims with gunshot wounds. A 45-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso, and a 40-year-old man had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
Emergency Medical Services transported the 45-year-old victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was later pronounced dead. The 40-year-old was also taken to Lincoln Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The identity of the deceased man is being withheld pending notification of his family, officials said.
Investigation continues, no arrests yet
As of Sunday evening, no arrests had been made in connection to the shooting. The NYPD confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
The motive for the shooting has not yet been determined, and police have not released any details about potential suspects.
