Gunman in Newark Beauty Store Armed Robbery Sought by Police

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Police area seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery that took place on Friday. The suspect is wanted for robbing a business owner at gunpoint and stealing $2,000.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:04 p.m. when the male suspect approached the owner from behind as she was closing Emily’s Beauty Supply LLC, located in the 400 block of Elizabeth Avenue. The suspect, armed with a weapon, demanded the victim’s pocketbook containing the cash.

He then struck the victim with the weapon before fleeing the scene in the direction of Watson Avenue.

Detectives have provided a description of the suspect as a black male in his 20s, approximately 5’10” with a thin build and a medium brown complexion. During the incident, he was seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweater, tan cargo pants, and grey/black Air Jordan 4 sneakers. The suspect also has a slight mustache and lower facial hair.
