Gunman opens fire in Wilkes-Barre street and vanishes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Gunshots rang out Sunday afternoon near 32 Irving Place after a suspect reportedly fired a handgun at a moving vehicle before fleeing the area.

Officers responded to the scene around 1:38 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. A witness told police they saw the suspect discharge one round at a vehicle traveling on the roadway. Both the vehicle and the suspect reportedly left the scene immediately after the incident.

Officers collected ballistic evidence at the location. No injuries were reported.

The case, filed under incident number 250116163, remains under investigation.
