Gunman Shoots at Cyclist at Maryland Charty Ride

Huntingtown, MD – Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau responded to reports of shots fired on Hardesty Road. A pickup truck driver, David Earl Bustin, fired shots at two cyclists involved in the ‘End Hunger’ Bike Ride before being taken into custody.

Bustin, 66, attempted to run the cyclists off the road and later retrieved a shotgun, firing three shots at them. Law enforcement found three spent shotgun shells and a Winchester Model 1300 shotgun during a residential search. Bustin faces charges of First-Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.
