Hammer Attack in Northeast D.C. Leads to Assault Charges for Man

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A man faces charges after a hammer assault in Northeast D.C. leaves two victims injured.

Metro Police have detained Alfonso Alegria, a 40-year-old with no fixed address, following an assault involving a hammer on M Street in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident, which occurred Tuesday afternoon around 2:01 p.m., began when Alegria allegedly tried to exit a store without paying for items. Confronted by the victims, Alegria reportedly attacked them with a hammer before fleeing the scene.

The suspect was apprehended yesterday and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
