HARFORD COUNTY, MD – A Harford County man is adding a screened-in porch to his new home after winning $50,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket. The Joker’s Wild ticket, which launched on July 22, gave out its first top prize to the lucky winner.

The winner, nearing retirement, enjoys playing scratch-offs for their pace, buying a variety of games daily. Although he occasionally plays Mega Millions and Powerball, scratch-offs have become his favorite. Before this win, his largest prize was $5,000, also from a scratch-off.

He bought the $5 Joker’s Wild ticket at Carroll Mart, located at 2906 Churchville Road in Churchville. Initially revealing a $5,000 win, he continued scratching to find 10 separate wins of $5,000, totaling $50,000.

“This worked out perfectly,” he said at Maryland Lottery headquarters on August 1, referring to his wife’s wish for a porch. To celebrate, the couple is planning a crab feast and an Atlantic cruise. Carroll Mart will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
