Harford County Man to Use $50k Lottery Win to Upgrade Home

Churchville, MD—A local man’s recent $50,000 win from a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket is set to make a significant impact on his new home construction. After claiming his prize at the Maryland Lottery headquarters on August 1, the lucky winner shared plans to add a screened-in porch, a feature especially desired by his wife.

The winner, who is nearing retirement, has shifted his lottery focus over the years from games like Mega Millions and Powerball to scratch-offs, which he finds more suitable to his pace.

His routine includes purchasing a variety of scratch-off tickets daily, leading to this substantial win from a newly launched $5 Joker’s Wild game. Just days after its release on July 22, he struck gold, revealing a total of $50,000 from multiple $5,000 segments on his ticket.

In celebration of his win, he and his wife are planning a crab feast and an Atlantic cruise. Additionally, the store that sold the winning ticket, Carroll Mart in Churchville, also benefits, receiving a $500 bonus.

This marks the first claim of the game’s eight top prizes, with more substantial winnings still available.
