NEW YORK CITY, NY – A 32-year-old man was shot in Manhattan early Thursday, following a minor collision on a sidewalk. NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny provided details of the incident.

The incident occurred near the Hell’s Kitchen Mercedes-Benz dealership on W. 52nd St. near 11th Ave, where the victim, accompanied by his parents, was heading to service his car at around 6:15 a.m. After the dealership was found closed, the family was returning from a walk when the victim accidentally bumped into a stranger.

Following a brief argument, the assailant boarded a bus, then abruptly disembarked and fired three shots, hitting the victim once in the upper back with a .22-caliber gun. The victim’s parents were unharmed.

A nearby EMT, T.J. Sinni, responded immediately, aiding the victim until further medical help arrived. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital.

This incident was initially believed to be a robbery, but further investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from the earlier argument.
