SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ – Seaside Heights was once the nightclub destination of New Jersey, spurring nationwide attention through the MTV hit television show Jersey Shore. Between 2009 and 2012, the buzz from Jersey Shore fueled a thriving and often troubled nightclub scene that had been revived since its heyday in the 1980s.
Looking back through history, Seaside Heights had a bar and nightclub on every corner. Baby O, Yakety Yak Cafe, Bamboo, Karma, Merge, and Club XS all lined the boulevard at one point in time, but today, they are all gone. Each building has been demolished, and a once-bustling party district is now a row of vacant lots.
We drove through last night, and here’s what the once-thriving nightclub scene looks like today as Seaside Heights continues its effort to rebrand and rebuild itself as a family tourism destination.
