Homeless Man Arrested for Attacking Victim With Shoelace

NEW YORK CITY, NY – As part of an ongoing investigation, the New York City Police Department announced the arrest of Anthony Fielder, a 56-year-old undomiciled male, on Tuesday, at around 7:05 pm.

Fielder faces charges of attempted murder, robbery, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The arrest is connected to an incident that occurred on Friday, September 8, at approximately 4:36 am. The victim, a 56-year-old male, was driving a white 2016 Ford Van near Skillman Avenue and Kingsland Avenue when an unknown passenger attacked him with a shoelace.

During the ensuing struggle, the assailant took control of the vehicle, causing it to hit several vehicles before crashing into a fence at 300 Skillman Avenue. The suspect then fled the scene on foot in a southbound direction on Kingsland Avenue. The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Woodhull and is currently in stable condition.
