Houston Woman Faces Murder and Aggravated Assault Charges in Two Separate Shootings

HOUSTON, TX – Jaysie Parker-Jones, 23, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault following two separate shooting incidents in Houston. In November, she allegedly killed 43-year-old Kenneth Johnson in a parking lot, and then, nearly two months later, she is accused of shooting her father.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrested Parker-Jones on January 3, 2024, on charges of aggravated assault after she reportedly shot her father multiple times in the neck and mouth while sitting in his vehicle. The incident, which took place in front of her younger brother, also led to a charge of discharging a firearm. Her father survived the attack.

Court records indicate that Parker-Jones admitted to the shooting. Prosecutors, citing the gravity of the situation, have motioned for sufficient bail, labeling her a “clear danger to the complainant and the community.”

A breakthrough in the case occurred when detectives matched the ballistics from the gun used in the shooting of her father to the November murder of Kenneth Johnson. Johnson was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on the morning of November 10 at the intersection of Woodham Drive and East Airtex Drive. His Honda Civic was later found abandoned nearby.
