Howell Man Faces Murder Charges in Mother’s Death

FREEHOLD, NJ – A Howell Township man, Robert Parody, has been arrested and charged with the fatal stabbing of his mother, authorities announced. Parody, 25, faces charges of first-degree murder and a related weapons offense after his 61-year-old mother, Loretta Parody, was killed in their home.

The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 AM on Monday. Howell Township Police responded to a call at a residence on Porter Road, where they apprehended Robert Parody without incident. Loretta Parody was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead.

Investigators from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) Major Crimes Bureau, in collaboration with Howell Township Police, discovered that Robert Parody had entered his mother’s bedroom and stabbed her in the chest while she was asleep. He is currently held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution awaiting a detention hearing.
