HOWELL, NJ – A man accused of a weekend shooting of an occupied rideshare vehicle in Howell Township has been arrested.

Police announced the arrest of Pietro Ventricelli, a 44-year-old resident of Howell Township, on charges related to a shooting incident outside his girlfriend’s home. The early Sunday morning event has led to serious charges against Ventricelli, including one count of first-degree Attempted Murder.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on January 15, 2023, when Howell Township Police were dispatched to a residence on Carrie Drive following reports of shots being fired. Investigations revealed that three juvenile friends of the homeowner’s son, who were waiting in a vehicle for a rideshare, became unintended targets.

Ventricelli, mistaking the group for intruders after the vehicle’s alarm was triggered, fired at the departing rideshare vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500, hitting it three times.
