Human Placenta Found in Bag Left at North Jersey Park

LEONIA, NJ – Police in Leonia discovered a bag that contained suspected human placenta, including fetal membranes in a lake at Overpeck County Park.

A parkgoer noticed the bag and pulled it from the water of the lake and immediately reported the incident to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

The bag is now being inspected by the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Sherrif’s Department is investigating.
