Mystery homicide after human remains uncovered in park
Fort Washington, MD — A death investigation in Prince George’s County has been reclassified as a homicide after human remains discovered in a Fort Washington park earlier this summer were confirmed by the medical examiner, police announced Thursday.
The case began on July 23, when officers assisting Montgomery County Police with a missing persons investigation located possible human remains during a search of Piscataway Stream Valley Park. The remains were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which has now ruled the death a homicide.
Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives are leading the investigation and continue efforts to identify both the victim and potential suspects. No motive has been released.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment. Detectives urge anyone with knowledge of the case to call 301-516-2512.
