Hyattsville man wins $100,000 in Maryland Lottery scratch-off game

Lottery Scratch Off Tickets

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — A Prince George’s County man is celebrating a $100,000 lottery win after purchasing a MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off ticket during a routine coffee stop.

Roberto Fuentes Valdivia, a construction and carpentry worker, bought five of the newly released scratch-offs at a 7-Eleven in Mt. Rainier. The $10 tickets caught his attention, and he decided to try his luck while still in the store.

“Funny, it was the last ticket that was the winner,” Valdivia said. “When I scanned the game, I thought it was $100, but then I saw that comma and realized it was $100,000!”

After sharing the news with family, Valdivia said he plans to save his winnings for the future. The 7-Eleven at 3310 Chillum Road, where the ticket was purchased, will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
