HYATTSVILLE, MD — December 28 marked a lucky day for a Hyattsville man who claimed the $50,000 top prize from the Deluxe Crossword scratch-off game.

The 47-year-old, an avid scratch-off player, visited the Lottery headquarters to claim his winnings. He follows a specific routine when playing, preferring to purchase three tickets at a time.

On his latest visit to Shell Food Mart in Adelphi, he bought his usual three tickets. After scratching them in the store, he immediately realized he had won the top prize. Remaining calm, he quietly left the store with his winning ticket.

While the winner has not yet decided how to utilize his winnings, he mentioned the possibility of taking a vacation.

Shell Food Mart, located at 7430 Riggs Rd in Adelphi, also benefits from the win. They will receive a $500 bonus for selling the $50,000 winning scratch-off ticket.
