COLUMBUS, Ohio — A construction crane struck power lines overnight, forcing the closure of I-70 west at I-71, the Columbus Division of Police said.

Authorities announced that the highway will remain shut down through the morning rush hour, with all westbound traffic being redirected onto I-71 north.

“I-70 west at I-71 will be closed through morning rush hour as a result of a construction crane striking power lines overnight,” police said in a statement.

Officials have not provided an estimated reopening time. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
