I-95 Crash Causes 5-Mile Backups near Woodrow Wilson Bridge

ALEXANDRIA, VA – On Tuesday morning, a crash on I-95 resulted in significant backups spanning five miles. The incident occurred at mile marker 177.9 on the southbound side, right along the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Fairfax County, just outside Alexandria. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) website verified the location of the crash.

The crash led to the closure of the south left shoulder, left lane, and center lane as of 9:15 a.m., causing disruption and delays for morning commuters. The closures added to the traffic congestion during the busy morning rush hour.

Motorists were advised to use alternate routes or expect delays due to the lane restrictions resulting from the crash.
