NEW YORK — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Mexican national in New York on charges of attempted murder and assault, according to an ICE announcement.

The individual was taken into custody on January 28 by ICE’s New York Field Office. Officials stated that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to detain individuals accused of violent crimes and remove those unlawfully present in the United States.

Authorities have not released further details about the alleged crime or the circumstances leading to the arrest. ICE has emphasized that cases involving serious criminal charges are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with potential removal proceedings following due process.
