JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – It’s grim news for residents of Jackson Township according to a report in the Asbury Park Press today. Municipal taxes, school taxes and fire district taxes across the board are increasing in 2021.

This year, taxes in the township will be rising a bit more than “just a few cups of coffee” as often regurgitated by Mayor Michael Reina. Municipal spending is increasing by nearly $2 million.
The Jackson Township municipal budget alone will be $49,376,000 in 2021, up nearly $5 million, or 10%.

On the bright side, County taxes in 2021 will be down slightly. Jackson Township could be eyeing much larger tax increases in the coming years as the town battles lawsuits by the Attorney General’s Office, the Department of Justice, Jewish community groups and two former employees who have filed a wrongful termination suit against Mayro Reina.
