CHURCHTON, MARYLAND – Every now and then, a woman from Churchton picks up a Maryland Lottery scratch-off to try her luck. The occasional player doesn’t really expect to win, but win $50,000 is exactly what she did the last time she heeded the thought to play.

The Anne Arundel County resident was in Glen Burnie at Geresbeck’s Food Market #703 when she added a Find the 9s scratch-off to her shopping list.

“I was up here visiting and, I don’t know why, but I just decided to buy one,” she said. The 68-year-old scratched the game off and realized she won, but held on to the $5 instant ticket for a couple of weeks. She claimed her prize Oct. 8 and said she plans to put her winnings in the bank.

Also benefiting from her Lottery luck is the grocery. The Anne Arundel County store, located at 7931 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, earns a bonus of $500 for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $50,000.

The Find the 9s game went on sale in June with eight $50,000 top prizes. Five top prizes are still unclaimed. Players can also look for eight $5,000 prizes and 13 at the $1,000 level.
