In victory for Democratic Party’s left wing, Casar wins primary in Texas district- AP

– Greg Casar, a former Austin city councillor, has won the Democratic primary in a central Texas district, AP said on Tuesday, in a victory for the progressive wing of the Democratic party.

Casar will face off against a Republican opponent in November for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, although the district is considered safely Democratic.
