CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA – Dwayne Hill, an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, has been convicted of Aggravated Assault against a corrections officer.
The Cumberland County jury delivered the verdict on Tuesday, following a one-day trial.
On June 28, 2021, Hill attacked a corrections officer with a pencil, causing minor injuries. This incident marks Hill’s third conviction for a violent crime, having previous convictions for homicide and robbery.
As a result, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years.
First Assistant District Attorney Courtney Hair LaRue and Trooper Shawn Barry of the Pennsylvania State Police in Carlisle prosecuted the case. Hill’s sentencing is scheduled for January 23, 2024, before the Honorable Jessica E. Brewbaker.
