Investigation of Lewd Images of Children Leads Police to Teaneck Man

TEANECK, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Dashawn D. Hooks of Teaneck, on charges of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The arrest occurred on Thursday, August 24, in Paramus, following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Jason Love. The unit executed a search warrant at Hooks’s residence during an Internet child [censored]ography investigation.

The investigation revealed that Hooks used the Internet to view, download, possess, distribute, and share items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.

Hooks has been charged with second-degree possession of child [censored]ography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)ii; and second-degree distribution of child [censored]ography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)I.

He has been remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
