Investigation Underway for Shed Fire in Dorchester County, No Injuries Reported

DORCHESTER, MD – A shed fire that occurred on March 20 at 4274 Osborne Road, Hurlock, in Dorchester County is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal. The incident, reported at 12:34 PM, involved a 10 x 20 shed owned by Ashley Ewing.

The Hurlock Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire, which took over an hour and a half to control. Despite the efforts of more than 30 firefighters, the fire resulted in an estimated $20,000 loss of the structure and its contents. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Notably, the fire also caused damage to approximately 2 acres of woodlands, exacerbated by high winds. The Maryland State Forestry Service has been engaged in woodland fire suppression efforts at the scene. The shed lacked smoke alarms and fire sprinkler systems at the time of the fire.
