Fire erupts at Maryland State Highway facility in Centreville, investigation underway

CENTREVILLE, MD – A fire broke out at the State Highway Administration facility in Centreville on Wednesday night, prompting a two-alarm response from multiple fire departments.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m. as the blaze intensified, leading officials to escalate the response. Crews brought the fire under control just after 9:00 p.m., according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

A team of Deputy State Fire Marshals is actively investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage. Officials have not released details on possible injuries or the impact on State Highway Administration operations.

“Our investigators will remain on the scene, and we will provide updates as soon as possible,” the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal said in a statement.

Authorities have not ruled out any potential causes as the investigation continues.
