JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – An application to turn a residential home in Jackson Township into a religious high school has been rejected by the local zoning board.
Board officials recognized the need for the school, but questioned the applicant’s mixed-use for the school also serve as a residential home.
Yotzer Ohr, a school for neglected Orthodox Jewish girls refused entry into more prestigious religious schools sought a variance to convert the Maplehurst Avenue into a home.
Zoning officials questioned the girls school also serving a residence and noted the lack of security and medical staff on site in their decision.
The application was unanimously rejected.
