JACKSON, NJ – Farley’s Homemade Ice Cream on Brewers Bridge Road has been sold. Owner John Burnetsky confirmed the sale today on the company’s Facebook page.
“This is straight from the horse’s mouth, me being the horse,” Burnetsky said. “We have, in fact, sold Farley’s. Times are changing and I’m getting old.”
Burnetsky, a former Jackson School Board Member, has been instrumental in supporting youth groups, school sports, and other township charities during his nearly three decades in business.
Despite being called “Mr. Farley” by many, the truth is, there is no Mr. Farley, but it’s a name Burnetsky came to accept over the years.
“The 28 years we’ve spent in Jackson have been the best years of my life. We love the town, but more importantly, the people! We’ve made many friends, and I’ve come to know a ton more,” he said. “We thank you for your patronage; without you guys, there would be no Farleys, I would not be known as “Mr. Farley”. We’ll be around until August 30.”
Demographics in eastern Jackson have shifted over the years, and with the growth of the Orthodox Jewish community, many of his regular customers have moved out of Jackson. Those that replaced him required Kosher dietary guidelines, which the business was not certified for.

He did not say who the new owners were or what business would take its place.
