JACKSON, NJ – To the students at Jackson Liberty High School, Jackson Township Police Officer John Pejoski was more than just the cop who patrolled the hallways of the building.
He was “POJO”, a friend, a mentor, and was beloved by the student body who he was sworn to protect and service each school day for several years. Pejoski was a fixture at the school and always there for students to lend a helping hand, help them through their problems, and yes, to keep them safe and spot trouble before it happened.
Last week, during his last days at school before his retirement, students adorned his patrol car with hundreds of sticky notes, some with personalized messages. His front windshield was decorated to look like an American Flag with brightly colored sticky notes.
“Students at Jackson Liberty High School recently spent some time decorating SRO John Pejoski’s patrol unit on his last day at the school as he prepares for his retirement at the end of the month,” the Jackson Police Department said.
Pejoski has worked at the Jackson Police Department as a school resource officer since 2003 and started his career with the department in 1997 as a patrolman. He was given a hero’s sendoff by students last Friday.
Jackson Police did not file any vandalism charges.
