JACKSON, NJ – Jackson residents are upset with a sign that, while well intended, was criticized. Jackson Township officials announced Tuesday night that homeowners Stephanie and Joseph Rucci have until the weekend to remove a sign some say is too vulgar for the quiet residential neighborhood.
Upset over people speeding through the 25-mile-per-hour residential zone, the couple, who own a party supply company, put an industrial blinking road sign that read “Speed Limit 25 MPH. Don’t Be an A*Hole” on their front lawn.
Jackson Council President Stephen Chisolm said that code enforcement officials asked the Rucci’s to remove the sign by the weekend.
Business Administrator Terrance Wall said the information had not yet made it to his desk and was unaware of the sign.
Neighbors who spoke to Shore News Network said while they agree it’s a good message, the wording is not appropriate for a neighborhood full of children.
