Jackson township salutes ocean county librarians with proclamation for national library week

JACKSON, N.J. — The Jackson Township Council honored the Ocean County Library and its staff during a recent council meeting, issuing a proclamation recognizing National Library Week and the critical role libraries play in the community.

The proclamation praised librarians as catalysts of creativity and learning, describing libraries as “vibrant community hubs” that connect residents to knowledge, technology, and civic engagement.

“Libraries provide free and equitable access to books, digital tools, and innovative programs, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background, have the support they need to learn, connect, and thrive,” the proclamation read.

Mayor Michael Reina and the council also recognized the contributions of libraries in economic development, educational partnerships, and intellectual freedom.

Council President Jennifer Kuhn noted that libraries empower job seekers, support entrepreneurs, and offer young readers opportunities to learn through STEM programs and literacy initiatives.

“Dedicated librarians and library workers provide welcoming spaces that inspire discovery, collaboration, and creation for all,” the proclamation stated, emphasizing the 2025 National Library Week theme: “Draw to the Library.”

Mayor Reina officially proclaimed the week of April 6 through April 12, 2025, as National Library Week in Jackson Township and encouraged residents to visit the library and explore its offerings.
