Jackson township seeking residents to serve on recreation committee

The Jackson Township Council is seeking interested candidates to serve on the Jackson Township Recreation Committee. This committee is made up of ordinary residents who want to help the township improve the public parks and recreation offerings in town.

This is a volunteer advisory board where residents can meet regularly and discuss the state of the township’s recreation services.

“We are restarting this committee so we can hear directly from the residents who use our parks and recreational services,” said Council President Jennifer Kuhn. “We always want to hear from the residents about how we can improve our existing parks and rec inventory and to give us ideas on what we should add in the future and for valuable input on what our residents like, and even don’t like about our parks.”

Kuhn said that through close cooperation with sports leagues, teams, and other civic groups over the past few years, the township has been able to improve the parks, add new playgrounds, work with the school district for playground improvements, and even identify where new parks and fields could be needed in the future.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone who is passionate about our parks and our community,” said Council President Mordechai Burnstein. “Anyone is welcome to submit their name, and we will announce the new committee at an upcoming council meeting. We want to hit the ground running and take advantage of existing grants and other opportunities out there to improve our parks even more.”
